Indian Ocean Tsunami, 2004 - Post Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation work
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands were amongst the worst hit when the tsunami hit the shores of India on the 26th of December, 2004. Countless villages and hamlets which lined our coastline were wiped out from the face of the earth and the loss of properties and lives was beyond imagination.
Along with the suffering that the giant waves brought to the people, the infrastructure in these villages was badly hit. Houses, shops, businesses, schools, boats and fields were swept away or destroyed. The Calorx Foundation stepped into rehabilitation work which reached the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. We participated in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Islands as a partner with the administration of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by constructing 2 schools in Hut Bay and Harminder Bay of the Little Andamans.
