Delhi Public School (East) - Annual Day | February, 2009

Delhi Public School (EAST) – Calorx Foundation celebrated its first Annual Day titled “Kaladarpan” on 7th February, 2009 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Tagore Hall, Paldi, Ahmedabad. The theme for the song, dance and drama show was “Nanhe Gujarati”.

The event saw full participation of DPS (EAST) students which was around 250. It was a continuous performance by the students for 1 hr & 15 mins which included 15 dances. The act was written by Vipul Sharma – an established writer & director of Gujarati plays and movies. The director & choreographer of the play was Jay Pandya who himself is a renowned theatre artist.

The theme “Nanhe Gujarati” stresses the fact that we, as responsible citizens of India should be attached to our roots and be proud of our varied and diverse culture. “Nanhe Gujarati” theme was moving around popular Gujarati folk and traditional songs and included original Gujarati dances. As a school, it was a humble effort to teach the students the values and ethics of Gujarati culture.

The Chief Guest for the evening was Mrs. Sharda Naik who is the chairperson of DPS (EAST) management committee and a member of the DPS society. As special invitees, the school had 4 child artistes who have performed in various Gujarati serials, ads and plays. Guest of honour included Mrs. Manjula Pooja Shroff, Chairperson, Calorx Foundation.

The event started with lamp lighting by the guests. The inaugural addresses were given by Mrs. Manjula Pooja Shroff followed by Mrs. Sharda Naik and Mrs. Anita Dua, Principal, DPS (EAST). A year report on the performance of the school was also presented by the Principal.
