| Calorx Foundation, with over a decade’s experience of establishing and running schools affiliated to national as well as international education boards has launched a university dedicated to teachers’ education- “Calorx Teachers’ University” (CTU).
The University will temporarily be located at the green environs of GreenWoods, on the Sardar Patel Ring Road in Ahmedabad. Infrastructural facilities for students will include separate hostel for boys and girls, well equipped 24 x 7 library with national and international journals, sports ground, wi-fi campus, Laboratory for Psychology, Educational Technology, Social Science, Language and Science Park.
The University will be starting with Full Time Teachers’ Programme like B.A. B. Ed, an innovative four year integrated course in English medium from the academic year 2009-2010. It is a full time residential English medium course designed with an aim to train high quality secondary school teachers. The students will be admitted through an admission test, group discussion and interview. After graduating, the students can opt for jobs or can pursue higher education leading to M.A or M.Ed.
India is on a fastrack to progress. Education will be a key driver in further sustaining this momentum. In the current scenario, the country surely lacks quality teachers and the Calorx Teachers’ University is an attempt to fill this gap by developing strong professional Teachers Training Programmes. The country needs to strengthen the level of education, and skilled, well trained teachers will be pivotal, if we are to get anywhere near this goal. The CTU will lay major emphasis on preparing teachers as professionals, by empowering them for a whole new generation of students in the changing world.
The university will also network with other esteemed temples of learning like IIT, American Psychological Association, American Society for Supervision & Curriculum Development, NCERT, International Bureau of Education (Geneva), etc. for mutual benefit. The placement cell of the university will network with the schools to ensure 100% placement.
Gradually, University will add more courses like B.Ed in Special Education, Masters Programmes in Elementary, Special Education, MBA in Education Management, M. Phil and Doctorate. The institute will also offer tailor made Short Term in-service Programmes, workshops, seminars for schools that are interested in helping their teachers upgrade their skills, there by exposing them to the modern and innovative ways of teaching. CTU will be developing a lot of teaching-learning materials as well.
