Delhi Public School, East, Ahmedabad is a project of Calorx Foundation – a not for profit organization running various educational institutes in the city of Ahmedabad. It has been a sincere and continuous effort by the foundation to contribute to the society in whichever way it can.

The students of DPS (East) organized a Blood Donation Camp with the help of Red Cross Society, Ahmedabad on 2nd October, 2009. It was in relation to the ‘Joy of Giving’ programme for social service carried out from 28th September, 2009 to 3rd October, 2009 for which renowned actor Rahul Bose is the brand ambassador.

The students of DPS (East) inspired all to participate whole heartedly in this project. This camp was organized on the auspicious day of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ at Calorx Pre-School, Maninagar from 8 to 11 a.m. 30 units of blood were collected during the exercise. The main objectives of this camp were to give the information about genetically inherited diseases related to blood like Thalassemia, Hemophilia, etc. and also about overcoming the shortage of blood by explaining the life cycle of blood cells.

The students also visited Dr. Maulin Patel, M.D. (Pathology) to gather necessary information and seek his expert guidance. The parents of our students, teachers and residents of Maninagar contributed towards this and made it a successful camp.

Sometimes in life we come across such situations that we learn a lot from a person who is apparently very simple and unimportant. We should not feel hesitant at all to learn something even if we receive it from a child. Thus, the students of DPS (East) inspired the society by highlighting the importance of blood donation by organizing such a camp for social service.
